DLA Project is going ahead at a good pace. Last developments are related with good practices identified by the partners in their regions, as well as the state of the art of Information Society in each of the partner regions.
 
In December 2010, partners finish the work on the analysis of the state of the art of the Information Society in their regions. So, a first interim result of the project was achieved.
 
In general terms, the situation in different regions is very different from one region to another but, in all regions without exception, Information Society is one of the key priority fields for the local authorities at all levels.

In addition to the Information Society reports, DLA partners have also worked very hard in the exchange of knowledge area. In concrete, they have identified 34 good practices at regional/local level in their territories. From these 34 good practices, the partnership has selected five as the most interesting ones.
 
The selected top five practices are:
REGION TITLE ABSTRACT
Galicia IANUS Electronic Medical Record. It is a programme developed by the Galicia Health Sesrvice (SERGAS). This programme aims to consolidate the electronic medical record, e-presciption and citizens access to all health services.
Stuttgart SWKA – StadWiki Karlsruhe The StadtWiki Karlsruhe (CitiWiki Karlsruhe) is an online information portal for the people of the region of Karlsuhe in Northern Baden-Württemberg. It has been initiated in 2004 by a citizen of Karlsruhe.
Following the logics of the “wisdom of the crowds”, the wiki is not administered by a single person or Institution, it rather allows citizens to write posts and articles and share their knowledge.
North Portugal Barcelos with your fingers This applications aims to give easy access to municipal information giving answer to three main objectives:
  1. Organize, systematize, adapt and simplify the information (design and alphanumeric type) to be use in GIS
  2. Turn all the information generated into a visually attractive information, tailored to different bases of spatial referencing and fully searchable by the civil society
  3. Make that information usable in real time, setting and serving as a facilitator for the spatial planning of the territory.
Midland Region e-Plan ePlan allows the citizen to view planning applications online. Maps and submissions may be viewed simply by querying the online system.
ePlan is an Internet enquiries front end to the iPlan Planning Administration system. Iplan is the system used by the Planning Authority to process all planning applications. Eplan runs against a replicated version of the iPlan database, which is refreshed at regular intervals. ePlan is used to provide the public with information on the status of planning applications submitted to the Local Authority.
Western Greece Innovation Pole The Regional Innovation Pole of Western Greece is a union comprised of organizations from the private and public sector, aiming at the development, promotion and exploitation of innovation in the Region of Western Greece (RWG). The units that participate are Universities, Technological Institutions, Research Institutions, Scientific Parks, small & medium size enterprises (SMEs) and other organizations that develop additional actions for the appointment of competitive abilities and the technological and commercial growth of the Region.
The priorities of the Regional Innovation Pole of Western Greece focus on:
  • Axis I. Technologies of Informatics and Communications
  • Axis II. Safety and Technologies of Foods
  • Axis III. Environmental Management and Protection
